The EPs title track cements first-impressions of Japanese influence, with lush koto-style strings ringing around organic drum arrangement. Well-sampled Gil Scott-Heron prose sprinkled through the track makes for a real wistful trip. A2s Shinkansen is made of bright chords and sneaks in a mid-point acid attack, upping the ante. The B-side expands on emotion and is, overall, reminiscent of true, Neo-Detroit deep house of the mid/late 90s think Headspace Recordings. Mister Bongo is a hand drum dream, and Meguro closes out proceedings with beautiful pad-work.
