Sales Information:It was only a matter of time before we could announce a release from BlackLoops here on Freerange and finally the time is now. The Italian producernow residing in Berlin has had a solid few years rising through the housemusic ranks through releases on respected labels such as Pets, Toytonics,Gruuv and Neovinyl. Last year he was awarded best Deep House Artist byTraxsource (based on sales and chartings) and he has since been remixingfor the likes of Luke Solomon, Ponty Mython, Theo Kottis and Joey Negro.His broad-ranging influences taking in funk, soul, disco and 90s NY houseinform a depth, warmth and musicality to his productions which has seenhim in demand DJing around the world and makes him an obvious fit for ushere on Freerange.This EP, produced almost exclusively during an extended tour in Australiaopens with title track 7Hills, the area where he stayed and worked on thisrelease. The trademark Black Loops swinging groove, smooth Rhodes stabs/keys licks courtesy of Nikos Haropoulos and a deep, rolling bassline allcome together to form the perfect warm up track - uplifting, understatedand with a subtle sense of anticipation.Next up we have Parisian producer Mad Rey getting stuck into 7Hills for araw, bumping interpretation which jacks things up a notch taking it intoheavier peak-time territory. Mad Rey has been responsible for somebrilliant releases on French label D.Ko, Rekids and most recently MamiesRecords and alongside label mates Flabaire and Paul Cut he has helped re-establish Paris as a hotbed of fresh, musical talent.Flipping over we have two more Black Loops originals. King Paul takes anold soul vocal sample and works it to great effect over crisp 909 beatsand sun-soaked keys whilst a vinyl-only bonus track Linda38 treads asimilar path but with a punchier groove and warm pads rounding off this EPin fine style.
